The first death from a coronary virus infection occurred yesterday in Serbia, after a 59-year-old man from Kikinda died at the Vojvodina Clinical Center. Unfortunately, the number of people infected with this dangerous virus in Serbia is increasing, and experts estimate that next week will be particularly dangerous in terms of the spread of the pandemic.

From the moment the state of emergency was declared in Serbia, all sports competitions in the country were stopped, so the decision was made to suspend the work of the first team and all the younger categories at the Vojvodina Football Club. According to club president Vojislav Gajić, this will remain in effect until circumstances permit.

– On the very first day when the corona virus appeared in Serbia, we started disinfection of FC Vujadin Boškov and introduced certain protective measures, and the moment the state decided to declare a state of emergency, we stopped the training process of the first team and all the younger categories. We are aware that if this situation persists, the players will not be physically fit enough to continue the season, but as it is for us, so is for everyone else. After all, the health of all of us comes first, and while the pandemic lasts, players try to maintain their fitness on their own with the help of instructions they received from members of the coaching staff – says Gajić.

According to him, in this situation, the club is doing everything it can to help its players and employees as much as possible during this crisis period.

– We have suspended the work of the kitchen and all other segments of the club which are not necessary in these circumstances, and the employees who still come to work are only those whose physical presence is necessary to ensure the smooth functioning of the club. We have provided masks and gloves for them, and through other preventative measures we have done everything to raise their protection to the highest possible level. Also, despite the fact that the club is practically idle at this stage, the management of the club this week gave salaries to the players and employees, and thus it was shown that care is taken of all who are part of FK Vojvodina – Gajić noted and appealed to all our fellow citizens to respect the measures prescribed by the state to the utmost, because that is the only way they can protect themselves and their loved ones.

At the Vujadin Boškov football center, regular disinfection of all rooms was carried out today, and the preventive measures will continue until the situation regarding the corona virus is improved.
