Exactly 12 days ago, a state of emergency was declared on the territory of the Republic of Serbia due to a pandemic of the corona virus. From that moment on, all sports competitions in the country were suspended, and work in all football clubs, as well as in many other legal entities, was reduced solely to activities that are necessary in the current situation.

Although, in its long history, Vojvodina went through two world wars and many challenges that threatened its vital functioning, even the Old Lady had never faced such circumstances before. However, according to its president Vojislav Gajić, Vojvodina will endure this situation and will not allow it to be destabilized by everything that is happening at the moment.

– Vojvodina Football Club fully respects and adheres to all the measures and recommendations appealed to by our government, because we strictly take care of those who are members of our collective and everyone from our local community, which is our duty and obligation. Fortunately, none of those involved in FK Vojvodina and their families have been infected with the virus for the time being, and we hope it will remain so – Gajić points out.

The president of FK Vojvodina notes that every effort is made to protect all members of the club, but at the same time that its functioning continues.

– Only those whose physical presence is absolutely necessary for the club’s activities in the new situation continue to come to FC Vujadin Boškov and I thank them for the attitude they show towards the club and their job. Of course, regular disinfection of the premises and giving them complete protective equipment make sure that their health is not compromised in any way. Also, the club management did its best to pay salaries to the players, coaches and employees last week. Although we have all been caught up in this pandemic, I can say that the club will successfully survive this period, and that when all this passes, we will be ready and equally capable of achieving the goals that we have set long ago – says Gajić.

However, a state of emergency will surely affect the physical fitness and form of the players.

– This week, our players started with joint online trainings, which put Vojvodina in this segment side by side with the biggest European clubs. At times when joint training in the same area is strictly forbidden, this is the most any club can do about it. I am aware that this is not the same as a regular training process, and that a long break would surely leave a mark on the players, and therefore it might not be a bad idea to declare the season over. However, for such a thing, it is necessary to hear other opinions first and after that to make a joint decision in the interest of players, fans and football in general – said Gajić.
