Former celebrated player of Vojvodina, Aleksandar Ivoš, passed away yesterday at the age of 90.

Aleksandar Ivoš was born on June 28, 1931 in Valjevo. He grew up in Loznica, where he started playing football in the football club of the same name. He played as a striker. Between 1951 and 1953, he wore Mačva’s jersey, at a time when this club was competing in the First League. Then he moved to Vojvodina, where he had the highest achievements in his career. He played for the Old Lady from 1954 to 1961, and during that time he played 142 games, scoring 32 goals. He performed in the generation in which, besides him, played Vujadin Boškov, Sima Milovanov, Zdravko Rajkov, Toza Veselinović and others.

From 1961 to 1964, he was a member of Sloboda Tuzla, and in 1966 he continued his career in Vienna’s Zimeringer SK. From 1966 to 1969, he played for the Belgian team Beringen. He ended his career in 1969 in Sloboda Tuzla, the year when Sloboda entered the First League, after which he was the technical director of this club. He started working in Vojvodina in 1971, where he was the manager of FC Vujadin Boškov from the summer of 1984.

He played three games for the U-21 national team (1953), seven for the B team (1957-1961) and three for the best national team of Yugoslavia. He made his debut on September 16, 1962 against East Germany (2-2) in Leipzig, and played his last game for the national team on September 30, 1962 against West Germany (2-3) in Zagreb. He was part of the Yugoslav national team that played at the 1962 World Cup in Chile.

In the last few years, he has been an active member of the FK Vojvodina Veterans Section. The Vojvodina football club expresses its sincere and deep condolences to his family, friends, former teammates and everyone who knew him.
