With the victory over Mačva in Šabac, Vojvodina returned to second place in the standings and showed that it was not shaken by the previous defeat against Partizan in the clash. With good performance and creating few great opportunities for scoring, the red and whites came to a new triumph, for which, as it turned out, was enough only one goal in the net of the home team.

The player who decided the match already in the seventh minute was Old Lady’s striker, 27-year-old Bojan Matić, who scored his eighth goal of the season, thus breaking the “post” he had in the previous five games, that is, from the match against Mladost in Lučani.

– As I said in the announcement of this match, it was a very difficult game. However, all the players who were on the pitch gave 200 percent of themselves to win and thus improve the impression we left in the recent clash against Partizan. I am glad for the team that we won and I think that this is a very important victory for us, because we returned to second place in the standings. It certainly pleases to see where we are at the moment and I hope that by the end of the season we will remain among the teams that will represent our country next year in qualifying for the Europa League – says Matić.

With eight goals scored this season, he is currently the fourth top goal scorer in the league, with three players ahead of him (Nenad Lukić, Stefan Mihajlović and Nikola Petković) scoring just one goal more.

– Of course, my goal and desire is to finish the half-season as the best goal scorer in the league. Currently, there are three of them ahead of me with nine goals scored, with five rounds remaining by the end of the fall. I think I have enough games to catch up and I hope to score a few more goals in the next five matches. I would be very happy if that happens – Matić notes.

By the end of the half-season, Vojvodina will have a relatively easier schedule, and fans are hoping that the Old Lady will retain its current second place by the end of the fall.

– We will have four conditionally said “easier” matches, although I said earlier that there are no easy matches for us. Every upcoming one is the most difficult for us at that moment, and so it will be with the match against Napredak from Kruševac, which with the victory over Čukarički proved that it can be dangerous. In addition, we have played less well at home this season than away, so we have to be extra careful. However, if we all do our best again and play as well as we can, I believe we will achieve a new win – Matić notes.

By the decision of Nenad Lalatović, the Manager of the Old Lady, Vojvodina players will have off today too, and starting from tomorrow they will continue training at FC Vujadin Boškov.
