The Mayor of Novi Sad, Miloš Vučević, today visited the stadium Karađorđe, where during the morning a shooting was done for the TV show City and Us, which is broadcasted on Radio Television of Vojvodina. On this occasion, he was warmly welcomed by FK Vojvodina’s president Vojislav Gajić and the Manager of red and whites Nenad Lalatović, with whom he discussed about the construction of a new stadium and wished them to continue to achieve results with the Old Lady in accordance with the tradition and reputation that this club has in serbian football.

At the same time, Mayor of Novi Sad Miloš Vučević has announced that he expects that the construction of the new stadium will begin in 2020, and believes that this is the last season in which Vojvodina will play at the “old” Karađorđe. According to him, the new stadium will have a capacity of around 19,000 seats and will meet all the UEFA criteria for playing matches in the group stages of its competitions, and the plan is to have the new stadium covered on all four sides, remove the athletic track and set up the pitch heaters, and to include a fan shop and a museum of FK Vojvodina, a brand new and expanded VIP box, parking space, etc. The total cost of the construction of the new stadium should be around 20 million euros, and the mayor’s proposal is that the stadium, which will be owned by the state, be given to Vojvodina Football Club for managing.

FK Vojvodina’s president Vojislav Gajić once again thanked the mayor Miloš Vučević for his help and commitment to construct a new stadium in Novi Sad, which he described as an indispensable prerequisite for further progress of the Old Lady and its participation in the group stage of the UEFA competition, and stressed that the Vojvodina Football Club, on its side, will make every effort to start construction of the new stadium as soon as possible.

During today’s meeting, Vojvodina’s Manager Nenad Lalatović also expressed his satisfaction with the construction of the new stadium, emphasizing that the Old Lady of Serbian football deserves to have a European-level stadium and adding that, during the construction of the new stadium, he would like his team to play matches as close to Novi Sad as possible, so that the fans can watch and support their team more easily.

GAJIĆ AND LALATOVIĆ NOTHING LEAVE TO CASE

Right before the mayor’s arrival, FK Vojvodina’s president Vojislav Gajić and the Manager Nenad Lalatović toured the stadium together to make sure everything is in the works ahead of tomorrow’s Round of 16 Cup match between Vojvodina and Sinđelić, for which spectators will again be able to pick up their tickets at the box offices for free.

On this occasion, they discussed current topics regarding the team and results and expressed a common view that the current course of the season can be characterized as successful, but that Vojvodina has yet to be tempted and that all attention and energy should be focused on the upcoming three games at home (Sinđelić in Cup, Javor and Inđija in the league), after which Vojvodina expects a big clash against Partizan in Belgrade.
