During the past week, through Social Media and the official e-mail address of the club’s PR service, Vojvodina fans had the opportunity to vote for players, coaches and moments by which they will remember this decade. More specifically, they had the opportunity to vote in the selection for the ideal team, the best player, the best coach, the most beautiful goal, the most beloved victory and the most beloved season of the Old Lady in the second decade of the 21st century.
After more than interesting voting, during which there were frequent “alternates” in the ideal lineup among some players, the voting was finished today, and Voša’s line-up of the decade according to the choice of its fans looks like this (in the bracket is written the total statistics of the player throughout his entire playing for the club):
goalkeeper: Željko Brkić (103 games);
defense: Ivan Lakićević (102 games, seven assists), Nino Pekarić (131 games, one trophy, five goals), Daniel Mojsov (55 games, four goals), Bojan Nastić (105 games, one trophy, two goals, one assist);
midfield: Nemanja Radoja (69 games, one trophy, two goals, four assists), Enver Alivodić (73 games, one trophy, 18 goals, 15 assists), Dušan Tadić (107 games, 29 goals, 17 assists), Sergej Milinković-Savić (16 games, one trophy, four goals, one assist);
attack: Aboubakar Oumarou (111 games, 44 goals, 22 assists), Dragan Mrđa (68 games, 36 goals, 13 assists).
As the best player of Vojvodina in this decade, the fans voted Aboubakar Oumarou. For the first team of Vojvodina, Oumaru played over three seasons. More precisely, from June 2010 to August 2013, and during that time he was proclaimed player of the season three times in a row by fans, who will, among other, remember him by his incredible speed and goals, especially in derby matches, as he often hit the net against Red Star and Partizan both in Novi Sad and Belgrade, as well as in European matches against Rapid, Bursaspor and so on.
In the selection for the best coach, the most votes of the fans were given to the current Manager of the Old Lady Nenad Lalatović. For him, this is his second term on the Voša’s bench, which he also led in the season 2015/16 (he took over the team after round 17) and in the first part of the season 2016/17. When he first took over the team, Vojvodina was in the ninth place in the standings, but under his leadership it later managed to take fourth place and reach the qualification for the Europa League, where it then came to the playoffs in which it was eliminated by Dutch side AZ Alkmar. Also, at the end of the first part of the season 2016/17, under his leadership Vojvodina took second place in the standings, while after the first part of the current season Voša is in third position. For all his time on the bench of Vojvodina, Nenad Lalatović led the team in a total of 75 games, in which the Old Lady achieved 46 wins, 16 draws and 13 losses, with a goal difference of 127:56.
For Vojvodina’s most beautiful goal of the decade, although that goal would probably be a favorite in much wider competition, Voša’s fans chosed the one scored by Ognjen Ožegović in the match against Javor in Novi Sad in the season 2015/16. After the cross of Ivan Lakicević, the former Vojvodina’s striker stunned the present at the stadium and everyone who saw the shot later, when he grabbed the ball at an extraordinary height and sent it into the net of the powerless goalkeeper of the away team.
As far as the victories were concerned, the most favored for the fans was the one in the qualifying for the Europa League in the season 2015/16, against Sampdoria in Turin. In the first match of the third qualifying round, Vođa has fascinated football public in Serbia, and the following day it was the main not only sports news in all media in the country. The red and whites simply knocked out a renowned member of the Italian Serie A, with a budget even 50 times bigger than Voša, by winning 0-4, thanks to goals scored by Mirko Ivanić, Aleksandar Stanisavljević and Ognjen Ožegović (2).
Finally, in the election for their favorite season, the largest number of votes of Vojvodina fans came for the season 2010/11. That season, Vojvodina broke many records in club’s history, such as those related to the number of points won (67), the most wins (20), the fewest defeats (three), the best goal difference (44:14) and the highest number of consecutive wins (11). The red and whites played great football that season and, in the opinion of many, deserved to win at least one trophy, which would probably happened if there had been no catastrophic mistakes at Serbian Cup final against Partizan in Belgrade by the referee Slobodan Veselinović, who got eight games of suspension after that match.
