The traditional annual ceremony organized by the City Sports Association of Novi Sad was held today in the Spens amphitheater, at which the best athletes and sports clubs on the territory of Novi Sad in 2020 were announced, ie other awards in the field of sports were awarded.
For the best men’s team in 2020, the City Sports Association of Novi Sad declared the football club Vojvodina, which this year won the second Serbian Cup in its history, took third place in the Super League and participated in the qualifications for the Europa League.
On behalf of FK Vojvodina, the award was received by the president of the club, Dragoljub Samardžić, from the provincial secretary for sports and youth, Dane Basta.
– This was generally a difficult year for all of us, just as it was difficult to get such recognition. I say that because we have exceptional clubs and athletes in our city, so there is no doubt that this trophy will be ranked among the most appreciated in our showcases. This year we have succeeded in something that not everyone expected, but at the same time it imposes an obligation on us not to deviate from such standards in the future – said Samardžić, adding that this recognition is the merit of the players and all others involved in managing the club.
The captain of Vojvodina, Nikola Drinčić, was proclaimed the best athlete of Novi Sad in 2020. He played in literally every match of his team during the past 12 months and, as the true leader of the team, led Voša until winning the Serbian Cup. He made a special gesture, worthy of all admiration, after the Cup final and the victory against Partizan, when, before handing over the trophy, he handed over the captain’s armband to Emil Rockov and thus enabled him to fulfill the boy’s dream with his home club by raising the cup.
At today’s ceremony, a special recognition was given to the Manager of Vojvodina Nenad Lalatović, who achieved exceptional results with Voša this year. In addition to winning the Serbian Cup, he entered the club’s history as the coach with the most victories in 106 years of club’s existence. Considering that Nenad Lalatović, just like Nikola Drinčić, are currently on vacation outside Novi Sad, they did not attend today’s ceremony, and the secretary of the staff of Vojvodina, Dragomir Vukićević, received the awards instead. The award for Nenad Lalatović was presented to him by the director of Spens, Dragan Milić, while the award for Nikola Drinčić was received by a member of the City Council for Sports and Youth, Ognjen Cvjetićanin.
