As of today, Filip Malbašić is a new member of Vojvodina!
A well-known name among the fans of the Old Lady returns to Karađorđe after five years, and he signed a contract with Vojvodina until June 2024.
Malbašić was one of Voša’s best players from January 2016 to summer 2017, and for a season and a half he played 70 matches, scored 28 goals and recorded eight assists. After Voša, Malbašić gained enormous experience during a five-year adventure in Spain, where he played for Tenerife, Cadiz and Burgos.
– Five years have passed, a lot has changed, but my enthusiasm has remained the same. I came to help as much as I can, my motives are inspired by persistence and the great desire of Vojvodina to return me to its ranks. I also wanted to come back, so I’m glad that everything came together. I did not know that such a thing would be possible because of my contract in Spain, but I managed to fight for the termination of the cooperation and to solve that one obstacle in the mutual desire to return. There is a new atmosphere in Vojvodina, new people have arrived led by President Zbiljić, and I have plenty of motivation to show myself in the best possible light again. Vojvodina’s goals are always the highest possible and I hope we will succeed in achieving them. Honestly, I came back to Voša to win trophies and I am convinced that everyone in the club feels and shares the same energy – said Malbašić.
During five seasons in Spain, Malbašić spent most of his time in Tenerife, for which he made 103 appearances, with 19 goals and seven assists, while he played with Cadiz in Primera, one of the strongest European leagues.
– I came back more experienced, I played for five years in Spain, I played in Primera and Segunda, which is also a very demanding league. I think that I am coming back at the right time on a personal level, we won’t be raising children so much in a foreign country anymore, so we are all happy to return to Serbia. I have the same message for the fans as when I first arrived – that they can expect me to do my best and I’m glad that they welcome me with open arms. Even in my first term, despite the good results, the situation around the club was not great, just like it was until recently, so I am especially happy that the fans are slowly returning and that there are more and more of them in the stands. We will do everything on the field to keep them and to be with us – concluded Filip Malbašić.
