Today, Vojvodina will play the last friendly match in the preparations in Slovenia, which will also be a general check before the start of the new season. At 6 pm in Bakovci, the rival of the red and whites will be Mura from Murska Sobota, the fourth-placed team of the First League of Slovenia last season.

NŠ Mura (football school Mura) is a club that was founded only in 2012 by taking over the Youth Academy of the club ND Mura 05, which was closed that year. After its founding, NŠ Mura started competing in the fourth league, but it reached the first very quickly, and in the 2019/20 season it managed to win its first trophy – the Slovenian Cup.

Already in the next season, Mura won the title of champion of Slovenia with a victory over Maribor in the last round, which is a truly incredible success for a club that comes from a place of only 25,000 inhabitants. What makes this club specific is that the local population, together with the surrounding places, is very attached to the club from its environment, and that in that district there are practically no fans of the biggest Slovenian clubs, such as Maribor or Olimpija.

Last season, Mura, after Maribor, became only the second Slovenian club to participate in the group stage of a European competition, as it competed in the Conference League, where, in a group with Vitesse, Rennes and Tottenham Hotspur, it lost five games in six matches, but achieved a victory against the big favorite Tottenham, when they won as the host with the result 2-1.

Mura performs at the Fazenarija stadium with a capacity of 5,500 seats and plays at home in black and white, and away in completely white equipment. The coach of the team is 37-year-old Slovenian Damir Čontala, who has a team at his disposal whose value is estimated at around 7.7 million euros. In addition to domestic players, Mura also includes five players from Croatia, three from Bosnia and Herzegovina and one from Togo, as well as one player from Kosovo and Metohija.

Vojvodina and Mura have never met in competitive matches, but they have played two friendly matches so far. Last summer, also in Slovenia, the result was 1-1 (the goal for Vojvodina was scored by Momčilo Mrkaić), and during the winter preparations in Turkey in the 2020/21 season, the Slovenian team was better with a convincing 5-1 (scorer for the red white was Slavko Bralić).

As for Vojvodina, the Manager Milan Rastavac announced that today a certain group of players will get a bit more minutes, and it is certain that the coach of the red and whites will not be able to count on Uroš Nikolić, who had knee surgery the day before yesterday and expects a certain pause, as well as on Mladen Devetak, who renewed his injury, while Vladan Novevski and Nebojša Bastajić are under question.

Immediately after the match and the joint dinner, the team of Vojvodina will head back to Novi Sad and it is expected that they will arrive at FC Vujadin Boškov tomorrow in the early morning hours.

Today’s match will be broadcast live on Novosadska Television, and the match can be watched on the Youtube channel of FK Vojvodina via the link:
