Minja, a sweet and gentle girl, was born on October 6, 2019.
During the first three months, she progressed nicely. No one could have guessed that something was going wrong.
However, the parents noticed that Minja gradually stopped moving her legs and arms, had difficulty breathing, and ate less. They immediately sought help. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a rare and extremely severe neuromuscular disease – spinal muscular atrophy, type 1.
The disease is associated with a mutation in a gene and is manifested by the loss of basic life functions, such as walking, digestion, swallowing and breathing. It does not affect the brain and cognitive functions.
At the age of five months, Minja received the first therapy available in Serbia. Thanks to spinraza, Minja breathes, eats and swallows on her own, but she still can’t fully hold her head, lift it, can’t crawl, or sit.
Fortunately, there has recently been gene therapy, and Minja got a chance to fight the vicious disease. The only way of treatment is abroad, and the medicine is so expensive that parents can only dream of raising so much money on their own – it costs as much as 2.5 million dollars.
Minjа also needs a expectorant, orthopedic aids, physical therapy, as well as the cost of accommodation and travel to go abroad for treatment. We believe that people of good will and a big heart will help raise funds for medicine and treatment, and that, among other things, they can do by buying the original FК Vojvodina jersey, signed by all first team players of the current Serbian Cup winner.
From the first to the fifth of December, a Facebook event will be organized on the Facebook page Jersey for Life, where a great collection of collected sports equipment and sports souvenirs will be published, which will go to auction to help our little Minja Matić.
On December 5, at 8:30 pm, the names of the people who bid the most for each item will be announced, and they will have 72 hours to pay that amount, and proof of payment must be sent to the inbox of the mentioned pages or to the email address zaminjinusansu2@gmail.com.
For those who do not have Facebook, it is possible to send offers to the mentioned e-mail address, and the administration of the page will publish their offers instead.
Football Club Vojvodina invites all people of good will to join this action and help Minja win the battle for life with a smile!
