In the 18th round of the Super League of Serbia, Vojvodina will play against Rad in Belgrade tomorrow. After the resignation of former Manager Dragomir Okuka, the former assistant trainer Radovan Krivokapic took over his role, despite the fact that he will not have a kind debut on the bench of “old lady”, since away matches against Rad have been some of the most difficult’s in the history of Voša.
In the announcement of this game, he first took the opportunity to thank those who gave him the trust to take over the team at a very delicate moment.
– First of all, I would like to thank once again our former chief Dragomir Okuka and his trust in me, because he was the one who insisted on me being in the place where I am now. Also, I would like to thank the directors Drakulić and Jevtic for the support which they gave me and this coaching staff. In these difficult moments, they stood behind the team, and now it’s time for all of us to go forward together – says Krivokapić.
Vojvodina is currently eighth in the table, with 13 points behind the place leading to qualifications for the Europa League.
– This is a very difficult moment for Vojvodina, but we all need to understand that the club is above all of us. All of us, coaches, players and all who work in the club are passing, but Vojvodina will remain after us, and only with such thinking we should go out on the field tomorrow and try to give our current maximum. What I have presented to everyone on the first working day as a Manager is that everyone should do the job for which he is determined to do and to do his best, because only in that way Vojvodina can be better – says Krivokapić.
He announced that red-whites will confront Rad with a significantly rejuvenated team.
– 10 young players are involved in the work of the first team and I can say with certainty that three of them will be in the competition for the squad for this match. My personal, but also the idea of the club is to work on the return of the identity of Vojvodina and to have that feeling again that the children of Vojvodina are in the first team, or that they are given the assurance that in the near future they will have a chance to play. I would not say much about the opponent, because it is the same for us as Zemun, and as each next will be. Of course, we respect every rival, and so do Rad, especially since we have a negative tradition in Banjica. However, we will not be bothered by this. I am only interested in how we will look when we go out on the pitch, and especially into that everything we did in training in this short period gets presented at the match. I hope for a successful and good result – emphasizes Krivokapić.
Due to personnel problems, Vojvodina has a special difficulty ahead of this match since defensive midfielders Damir Zlomislić (27) and Aleksandar Mirkov (22) have been injured.
– Since Okuka and I arrived to the club, before each match we think that we know the starting 11 and then there is always some injuries. In this case, we have problems with Zlomislić, who in the previous game against Zemun got a whack to the head and will not be playing tomorrow. However, we have more options for the defensive midfielder position and we will try to find the best solution. The midfielders like Milojevic, Djuric and Arsic are in competition for the squad, and we will make a decision after today’s training and conversation – says Krivokapic.
The position of the defensive midfielder is not the only one on which Voša is weakened ahead of tomorrow’s match, and precisely depending on that, a decision will be made who of the youths will travel to Belgrade.
– Graovac has a hamstrings injury, Mesarović got sick and Antić can’t play because of a red card, while everybody else are in the competition for the team. As things stand at the moment, bearing in mind the positions in the team, the closest to being among the 18 players from the youths are Jakovljević, Nesković and Jeličić, possibly Tegeltija and Bjeković – said Krivokapić.
The match between Rad and Vojvodina is set for tomorrow at 1 PM at the “King Petar I” stadium in Belgrade.
