Serbia’s U-21 national football team defeated Estonia by 6-0 in last night’s European Championship qualifier match at the Čair stadium in Niš. With that triumph, the Eagles got involved in the fight for the first, which brings a direct placement to the European Championship, and the second place, which would allow them to try to reach the final tournament of the Old Continent through the barrage.

Vojvodina captain, 20-year-old Ranko Veselinović, also made a contribution to the victory of our U-21 national team, since last night he had is debut.

– Of course I am pleased with the convincing victory we have achieved, as well as the performance we have shown at Čair. We entered the match very motivated and showed that we are a better team, which is best evidenced by the final result of this match. However, we have already forgotten this and turned to the game against Russia, in which we also have to win, because otherwise these three points will not mean much to us – says Veselinović.

The Eagles will face Russia in Niš as well, and the match is scheduled for Tuesday at 7pm.

– It will definitely be a harder game than the one against Estonia, since Russia has a much stronger and better team. At their pitch they have beaten us by 1-0, so we have to be very careful, but I believe that with the support from the stands, we can triumph and thus seriously engage in the fight even for the first place in the group – Veselinović notes.

After he finishes with his commitments in the national team, he and his teammates from Vojvodina next weekend are expected to play a match against Napredak in the Super League of Serbia.

– It will also be one tough game, but for us, in the Super League every game is like that. Napredak is a good team, and in the last round they have beaten Napredak by 3-1, showing that they are a very good squad, with some exceptional individuals. However, our goal is known and we will do our best to cheer our fans with the victory – said Veselinović.
