Today is exactly 10 years since the legendary Vujadin Boškov died, one of the most important characters in the history of Vojvodina FC.

On that occasion, delegation of Vojvodina FC visited his grave in his home town Begeč, and laid flowers, thereby paying respect to their legendary player and technical director.

The delegation consisted of Miroslav Tanjga, the vice-president of the club and the director of the sports section of Football Association of Serbia, director of the Historical Archive of the City of Novi Sad, Petar Đurđev, and the president of the Veterans, Miladin Purać.

  • Great people like Vujadin Boškov can never be forgotten, not only in Vojvodina, but in Serbian football in general. People like Vujke should be the guiding stars to all the young people, and future generations that will lead the Serbian football, not only coaches and players, but also staff. People like him were great ambassadors of our country. I didn’t have a chance to cooperate with Vujke when I was a player, but on one occasion, when I went to sign a contract with the Lotto company along with him, I realized how appreciated and respected he was in Italy – Miroslav Tanjga said.

The president of the Veteran section, Miladin Purać, also remembered the greatness of Vujadin Boškov.

  • As someone who was in the club since the pioneers, through the first team and today as a member of veterans, I can say that many nice memories link me to Vujadin Boškov. Vujadin Boškov, along with Branko Stanković, was the most responsible for the generation who won the first title of the champions of Yugoslavia, and then the quarter-finals of the Cup of European Champions. Vujadin Boškov was not significant just for Vojvodina and Serbian football, but was respected in the entire world. I remember when as a coach of Sampdoria he played against the Red Star in Sofia, who was the host due to the sanctions, and later reached the finals with the famous generation of the Italian Cup. He was the selector of our representation, and all that shows how important Vujadin Boškov was – Miladin Purać highlighted.
