Vojvodina was defeated tonight against Red Star by 1-2 (1-1), in the seventh round of the Super League of Serbia.

In front of around 9,000 spectators at Karađorđe, the scorers for Red Star were Pavkov in 25th and Garcia in 59th, while the only goal for Voša was scored by Stojković in the 36th minute.

Teams performed in the following lineups:

Vojvodina: Rockov – Stojković, Veselinović, Saničanin, Devetak – Drinčić, Đurišić – Đuričin (from 70th Zukić), Bojić, Gemović (from 61st Nikolić) – Vincent (from 80th Kokir).

Red Star: Borjan – Gobeljić, Degenek, Pankov, Milunović, Jander – Canas (from 93rd Krstović), Jovančić, Garcia (from 67th Vulić), Vukanović (from 60th Simić) – Pavkov.

Before the start of the match, a minute of silence was held in honor of Jovan Kovrlija, assistant coach of Vojvodina in the tittle winning season 1988/89, who passed away a few days ago after a long and severe illness.

At the beginning of the game, a little better team on the pitch was Vojvodina, which had bigger ball possession and was more often in front of the rival’s goal, but failed to create a real opportunity for scoring. On the other hand, Red Star got into lead from its first chance of the match in 25th minute.

Milunović transferred the ball to half of Vojvodina and added it to Vukanović, who sent a pass from the left in front of Vojvodina’s goal, where Pavkov came to the ball and sent it into the net from three meters distance.

However, already in the 36th minute, Vojvodina managed to equalize. Stojković reached the ball in the penalty box of Red Star and took a shot, sending the ball behind Borjan’s back.

Only four minutes later, the Belgraders were again able to take the lead. The corner kick was taken by Garcia, Rockov bounced the ball, but then it came to Jovančić, who shot from around five meters, but the ball went over bar.

On the other hand, Vojvodina had a great opportunity in 42nd minute through Gemović, who sent a good volley-kick from around seven meters distance, but the ball went several inches past the post. In the very next minute, in the Red Star’s counterattack, Vukanović on the left played a great pass in front of goal to Garcia, who took a shot, but straight into the goalkeeper Rockov.

In the second half, again at the moment when it was least expected, Red Star came to a new advantage in the 59th minute. Garcia took a corner kick, after which Rockov, and Drincic too kicked the ball, but it again came to Garcia, who sent a great volley-kick and brought a new lead to his team.

From that moment on, the ball was slightly more in the possession of the Red Star, but the real chances were missing. On several occasions, Vojvodina was in a position to seriously threaten the goal of its rival, but the red and whites lacked a good finish every time, so the result remained unchanged. The clash of the seventh round of the Super League of Serbia ended with the victory of the team from Belgrade.
