Today, Vojvodina will play the third friendly match in preparation for the new season. From 6 pm in Gornja Radgona, the rival of the red and whites will be Mura from Murska Sobota, the current champion of Slovenia.

NŠ Mura (football school Mura) was founded in 2012, taking over the Youth Academy of ND Mura 05, a club that after the 2012/13 season ceased to exist. In just seven years, NŠ Mura crossed the path from the fourth to the first league, and a year later, by defeating Nafta 1903 in the final, it managed to win its first trophy – the Slovenian Cup. It is interesting that this final match was played on the same day as the Cup final between Vojvodina and Partizan in Niš – on June 24, 2020.

As two Cup winners, Mura and Vojvodina met each other for the first time this winter during the preparations in Turkey, when the Slovenian team won with a convincing 5-1. Although the defeat of the Old Lady at that time was experienced quite unexpectedly and a bit tragically, in the continuation of the season, Mura proved to be an extremely high-quality team, considering that this club finally managed to win the title of Slovenian champion.

Mura came to the title in a really incredible way – by winning away in the last round over the direct competitor Maribor with the result 1-3, where even a triumph of 1-2 would not be enough for the trophy, considering that it won the title thanks to a better goal difference, literally for one goal. Last season, which is the most successful in the short history of the club, Mura rounded off by winning the double crown, considering that it won another Slovenian Cup.

This season, Mura will participate in the qualifications for the Champions League, where its rival in the first round will be Shkendija from Northern Macedonia. The coach of the team is 49-year-old Slovenian Ante Simundža, who has a team at his disposal whose value is estimated at around 8.14 million euros. In his squad, in addition to domestic players, he can count on as many as 10 foreigners, six of whom come from Croatia, one each from Togo and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and there are also two citizens of Serbia.

Those are the former player of Čukarički and the winner of the World Cup with the U-20 national team of Serbia, Staniša Mandić, who then decided to accept Montenegrin citizenship and play for the national team of Montenegro, as well as 24-year-old striker Jovan Koprivica, who has spent his entire career in Slovenia.

As the host, Mura plays at the Fazanerija stadium with a capacity of 5,500 seats and plays at home in black and white, and away in completely white equipment.

As for Vojvodina, the Manager Slavoljub Đorđević will give a little more minutes to the players who have imposed themselves on him so far in the preparations, and the fans of the Old Lady and all other football fans will be able to watch the match on Novosadska TV, as well as on the Youtube channel of FK Vojvodina via the link:
