When Vojvodina’s midfielder, 22-year-old Marko Đurišić, returned to his club this summer, many were unsure in how much he will be able to help the red and whites to accomplish their high ambitions, which were set ahead of the start of the season. The reason for this was the fact that during the last two years since leaving Vojvodina, he was a member of Mačva from Sabac, in which he did not played much, and Dinamo from Vranje, which got relegated from the Super League last season.

However, already from the first round of the season, Đurišić has imposed himself to coach Nenad Lalatović and took his place in the starting lineup, so for now he has played 11 out of 15 league games. By doing a lot of work in the middle of the field, especially when it comes to defense, he has contributed to the current placement of the Old Lady, which at the moment is in the position that brings it a spot in the qualifications for the Europa League next season.

However, just like all of his teammates, he is also hit by a recent high defeat against Partizan in Belgrade.

– If we look back to the previous period, I think that we are not that much in the crisis regarding results, but we are certainly in crisis regarding how we play in the last three or four rounds. This was also noticeable against Partizan, when we got into the game very badly, then we were cut off by that penalty and later we were not able to return to the match. Generally speaking, we all played that game very poorly – Đurišić points out.

However, if we look at the overall performance of Vojvodina so far, there is no reason for any excessive dissatisfaction.

– I am satisfied with the performances we have shown in most of the games we played, although we are not playing at the same level as before. I think we collectively have to make every effort to get back on track, starting already with the match against Mačva in Šabac – Đurišić notes.

Given that he has worn Mačva’s jersey before, he is well aware of the quality of that team.

– Comparing to two seasons ago, when I played for Mačva, there are maybe five or six standard players who are still in the team. This season they are in crisis and currently they are last in the table, but regardless of that, Mačva plays very well at home and creates many chances on its own pitch. We expect a tough match and it will certainly not be easy for us to win, but I believe that we will have the strength to achieve a triumph and thus start the new series of good results – said Đurišić.

The match between Mačva and Vojvodina in Šabac will be played on Saturday, starting at 2pm.
