After an interrupted friendly match against Brescia, Vojvodina’s Manager Nenad Lalatović said that the incident has been planned in advance and that he can not blame the fans who flew on the pitch after seeing the Albanian flags.

The match between Brescia and Vojvodina was interrupted in the 50th minute after a group of Vojvodina supporters flew onto the pitch, provoked by the appearance of Albanian flags.

– All that happened was planned and wanted by those who provoked the incident. On the fence next to the pitch, several Albanians started waving Albanian flags, hoping exactly for this kind of reaction from our fans, as there was a group of 20-30 people behind the fence waiting to deal with them. Fortunately, a massacre that could have happened was avoided. Our fans are big Serbs and patriots, and even though I do not justify this, at the same time I cannot blame any of them. Simple, we all love our Serbia and our Kosovo very much, and we cannot remain immune when someone hurts our feelings for our country – says Lalatović.

The match between Brescia and Vojvodina was previously interrupted in the 26th minute, after the referee showed a red card to Vojvodina’s Manager, who then withdrew the team from the pitch for a few minutes.

– We did not came here to be a sparring partner for Brescia and to help them get into form and give us five goals. The first goal was scored from a non-existent penalty, the second from the offside, Drinčić was torn off his shirt, and in the first 20 minutes we literally didn’t get any foul at all. When I pulled the team off the pitch, in the space between the locker rooms, Brescia’s players literally approached me and said that they do not understand why the referee is doing this and that they also agree it is a shame. I said that if this continues, we will definitely not play any more. Fortunately, the referee was fair afterwards – Lalatović points out.

Despite the fact that at the moment of interruption the result was 2-1 for Brescia, he is not dissatisfied with the performance of his team.

– From the moment when the referee became fair, we have shown that we can play, we have taken possession of the ball and fully deserved the goal which we scored. If the match went on, I’m convinced that we wouldn’t lose. Brescia has shown that it is coming from a much stronger competition than we are, but nonetheless, I believe that we did not leave a bad impression at all – said Lalatović.

Vojvodina arrived to Novi Sad from Brescia last night, and the next game it will play on Friday against Čukarički in Belgrade in the Super League of Serbia. The match is scheduled for 6 pm.
