In the ceremonial hall of FC Vujadin Boškov in Veternik, a ceremony was held today on the occasion of awarding plaques to members of the first champion generation of Vojvodina, which, by winning the title of champion of Yugoslavia in the 1965/66 season, brought the first trophy to the club.

In the presence of veterans of Vojvodina, members of the club and media representatives, plaques were handed to all living members of the first champion generation of Vojvodina by the acting club president Dragoljub Samardžić and members of the Board of Directors Ljubomir Apro and Milan N. Đukić, while, on behalf of those who unfortunately passed away, plaques were received by members of their families. The plaques were handed to them by the youngsters of Vojvodina who recently signed their first professional contracts with the club.

The reason for presenting these plaques is that in the current season 2020/21. Vojvodina marks 55 years since winning its first title, which was done in the 1965/66 season. Due to the unstable epidemiological situation, the club decided to mark this jubilee in the first part of the season, which certainly met with great joy from those who remained in golden letters in the long history of the Old Lady with their performances and results.

At the beginning of the ceremony, those present first listened to the anthem of FK Vojvodina, whose text was written by the legendary Serbian poet and big fan of the Old Lady Miroslav Mika Antić, and sung by Mihajlo Oneščuk, longtime vocal soloist of Radio Television Novi Sad. After that, a short report was shown on the success achieved in the 1965/66 season, but also a year later, when practically the same generation managed to place in the quarterfinals of the European Champions Cup after the victory over Atletico Madrid, while only a goal in overtime eliminated it from the later cup winner, Celtic.

All those present then held a minute of silence for the members of the first champion generation of Vojvodina, who unfortunately are no longer with us, after which the acting president Dragoljub Samardžić addressed the audience.

– I am very excited and happy to be standing in front of you today with the closest management of FK Vojvodina. 55 years ago, you wrote a part of our rich club history in golden letters, winning the title in that great and football-powerful Yugoslavia. You deservedly won the title a few rounds before the end, leaving behind you well-known clubs such as Red Star, Partizan, Dinamo, Hajduk, Rijeka, Velež, Željezničar, Vardar – said Samardžić.

On behalf of the players who won the first championship title, the president of the FK Vojvodina Veterans Section, Vasa Pušibrk, addressed the audience.

– Emotions come when we remember those days and times. I remember our building under the arches and the fact that we trained hard at our stadium, but also on many other pitches in Vojvodina. However, we won the title with eight points more than the runner-up. It was not easy, especially because we started the season quite badly, so we even lost in the Cup to the amateur team from Smederevska Palanka – reminded Pušibrk, who also thanked the members of the club’s management for once again paying tribute to those who won the first championship title.

After the official part of the program, the gathering of those present continued at a cocktail party, and in the history of the Old Lady it will be noted that the first league title was won by: Silvester Takač, Vasa Pušibrk, Vladimir Savić, Radivoj Radosav, Adolf Lambi, Veljko Aleksić, Tonče Stamevski, Đorđe Milić, Rajko Aleksić, Dragan Surdučki, Anđelko Marinković, Branislav Veljković, Petar Mićić, Ilija Pantelić, Žarko Nikolić, Stevan Sekereš, Ivica Brzić, Dobrivije Trivić, Mladen Vučinić, Đorđe Pavlić, Stevan Nešticki and Dimitrije Radović.
