The well-known sports journalist, Miroslav Gavrilović, died on Monday. He passed away at the age of 73, after a short and serious illness.

The famous correspondent of Sportski Žurnal from Novi Sad, since its establishment in 1990, previously Zagreb’s Vijesnik and Sportske Novosti, gave up his life’s battle in his retirement days.

For years, a careful chronicler of events in the football club Vojvodina and sports Novi Sad, Miroslav Gavrilović built the image of a journalist with authority, a philosophical attitude, ready to always offer readers more than just news. After almost five decades of work, he brought his rich career to an end three years ago. Even then, he witnessed more significant events, the work of giving some advice to younger colleagues, without asking too many questions…

He also left behind a rich collection of books – seven books, four signed by the author, three co-authored. He signed with Vladimir Todorović “Planeta fudbal”, “How we beat Europe” and an almanac for the 80th birthday of Vojvodina. Independently, “Life with a title” and three books dedicated to the greats Vujadin Boškov (“Vujke, one and only”), Siniša Mihajlović (“God’s Left”) and Ilija Pantelić (“Veliki Panta”).

In February of this year, the Vojvodina football club presented him with a special plaque as a sign of gratitude for following and reporting on everything related to the Old Lady for so many years.

To the family of Miroslav Gavrilović, his friends, colleagues, the media where he worked and everyone who knew him, the football club Vojvodina expresses its sincere and deep condolences.

The time and place of the funeral of Miroslav Gavrilović, a resident of Novi Sad and a native of Crvenka, will be announced later.
