Yesterday, through the official Facebook page of the club, Vojvodina fans had the opportunity to ask questions to the captain of the Old Lady and U-21 national team player, 20-year-old Ranko Veselinović. Although he got injured at the very beginning of the preparations for the new half-season, he traveled with his teammates to Belek, where with the fitness coach Saša Semeredi works daily to return to the full rhythm as quickly as possible.

After doing training together with the team for the first time today, he was pleased to answer questions from Old Lady fans, which were both of football and non-football nature.

Do you prefer champita or wheat with whipped cream?

Interesting question. Champita.

As kids who train football in Vojvodina, are you interested in the history of the club and the great players and the people who founded and ran it, especially since all of them in the first place were also great fans of Vojvodina?

This is also one interesting question. Of course we are interested in it and I think that all of us who come from the Youth Academy should know the history of our club, that is, for big names and players who played in Vojvodina and later in bigger clubs. Honestly, I do not know the whole history of Vojvodina, but I do know about those most important details and the people who were in it.

Can your generation change the practice of transferring Vojvodina players to Red Star and Partizan and what do you think about young players signing their first professional contracts with their club for a minimum of five years?

This is something that depends not only on us, but also on the club. Personally, I think that players who went through the Youth Academy and played in Vojvodina should not move to Red Star and Partizan, because they are two of our biggest rivals and we should not go there. As for signing five-year contracts, that’s really up to the club. I agree that younger players should not immediately flee from Vojvodina and our football abroad, but should spend here a season, two or three. Our league, as it is, is still a strong league, and it means a lot to the players in terms of experience for the future period.

What grade did you have in sociology?

I saw on Facebook that my professor asked that question. I had an A. She really complied with my obligations and I am very grateful to her for that.

Do you think that Vojvodina is stronger now than it was in the autumn?

Absolutely yes. We brought in some great players who will be reinforcements, and now we are already used to coaching staff. I think that the players who were brought in during this transfer window will mean a lot to us.

Do you think that every Vojvodina player will justify the trust of the coach and give his maximum?

I hope so. We all want to fulfill our coach’s expectations and provide good performances, but then again, sometimes the ball won’t listen and it simply doesn’t go as you want. All I can guarantee is that everyone will want to justify the coach’s trust and give 100 percent of his abilities.

Which club do you support?

Vojvodina.

What do you expect in the Cup this season and what place in the league do you think we will win?

I have said several times that our goal is to go to Europe, that is, to qualify for the Europa League qualifications next season. Of course, I would like us to go as higher as possible, and I do not see why we could not be even second, ahead of Partizan. As for the Cup, that’s my big wish. We are now in the quarterfinals and waiting for the draw. I wish we could go as far as possible there, and I think there is no reason why we would not even hope to win a trophy.

When you go abroad one day, do you see Igor Jeličić as your inheritor and what is the current situation with him, since he was neither on the preparations nor on a loan, and he no longer has the right to play for the youth team?

Jeličić is great as a football player and as a person. He had that bad luck for having both knees on a surgery, so he needs a little more time to get back and get a routine during playing games. Anyway, of course I see him as my inheritor, because he is a really great player.

Would you ever move to Red Star or Partizan and, as a captain, will you through talking influence on Topić, Zukić, Nešković and others from our Youth Academy not to do so too?

I will not go to Red Star nor Partizan, and as for the others, I talk to them every day. They are all good guys and by talking they should be helped to understand that their club is Vojvodina and that they should not play for any other club in Serbia.

What is your favorite English club?

Manchester United.
