Vojvodina coach Radoslav Batak congratulated his team on the victory over Partizan.
The Old Lady defeated Partizan tonight with a score of 2-1 and thus took another big step towards qualifying for Europe.
– I know that it was not easy for my colleague Igor Duljaj to take over a team that needs to wake up from lethargy, because it is not easy for us coaches when we arrive at such a moment. I know him from his playing days, I know what kind of worker and professional he is, and I wish him luck in his future work – said Batak.
He congratulated his team on the victory and unity, which brought three points tonight.
– We played disciplined and responsible, we were a little late with our decisions in the last third of the pitch, but we changed that at halftime. I told the players at half time that we can do a lot more and that this is not us. We were kind of lacking confidence, but we agreed to be more free in the second part and after that we took the lead and had a few more chances. When I came I said that every player is important, tonight the reserve players stood out. Nikolić showed how important a player he is for us and he started scoring goals and I hope he will continue at that pace. We want to build a team that doesn’t depend on an individual, but to be a team that will ultimately throw out an individual. The players did it masterfully tonight, but we haven’t done anything yet, because we have a new game waiting for us already on Friday. I congratulate the boys, as well as our fans and management, because we have not beaten Partizan in the last eight games. It’s a nice feeling, but we don’t have time to celebrate, we still have a lot of work to do until the end of the championship. I am happy that we showed that we are a team and that the players who did not enter were satisfied and happy, and that is the energy we need – said Batak.
Vojvodina will face TSC in the next round, and that match is scheduled for Friday at 5 p.m.
