Vojvodina Football Club today has officially signed a new player in this transfer window. After 12 years, a new member of the Old Lady again has become Nikola Petković, who in the last half-season played for the Chinese second-division team SC Longfor.

He is born on March 28, 1986, in Belgrade, and he was a member of a brilliant team of Vojvodina in the season 2006/07, among with Dušan Tadić, Gojko Kačar, Danijel Aleksić, Ranko Despotović, Milan Davidov, etc., which managed to reach the UEFA Cup qualifications and Serbian Cup final.

After that, in January 2008, he went to Turkish side Genclerbirligi, after which he yet played for GB Oftasspor (Turkey), Red Star, E. Frankfurt (Germany), Tom Tomsk (Russia), Ahli (Saudi Arabia), Hapoel Tel Aviv (Israel), Sydney FC (Australia), KVC Westerlo (Belgium), YB Funde (China), Zemun, Police Tero FC (Thailand) and finally SC Longfor, in which during last half-season he had 10 appearances.

Although during most of his career he played as a left back, during the last few seasons he usually performs at the position of central back. The president of FK Vojvodina, Vojislav Gajić, believes that he will be a significant signing for red and whites in the continuation of the season.

– I am very pleased that we have managed to sign Nikola Petković, whom I already know from the period when I was for the first time in the club’s Board of Directors. He is a player who will bring additional strength and energy to our team, which is exactly what we wanted and announced ahead of the start of the season. With his experience and quality, he will help us to achieve even better results in the future, and he will also help our younger players to develop and progress faster and easier than before – said Gajić.

Of course, Nikola Petković is also happy that he has returned to the club in which he has started his senior career.

– It’s been 11 and a half years since I left Vojvodina and that is a really long period. I have always said that in this club I have spent the most beautiful part of my life, and that was the time when Vojvodina was returning to the level on which it deserves to be. When I came here for the first time, there were some problems at the club, but it all got turned around in only six months. We had lots of success, lots of victories and there are many nice things that remind me to this town, so I didn’t think much after the conversation with the president and sports director. I hope that this will be one nice and healthy story. Lalatović is the best Manager in Serbia and he posses an incredible energy and knowledge – said Petković.

He signed a two-years-deal with the club and in the future he will play in red and white jersey with number 13 on his back.
