With great sadness and regret we received the news that Vladimir Savić, a long-term member of Vojvodina FC and a member of the first generation that won the championship title, passed away.

Vladimir Savić was born on November 7th 1943 in Noćaj near Sremska Mitrovica. He started his football career in Podrinje FC from Mačvanska Mitrovica. After that, he played for Srem from Sremska Mitrovica. From 1963 to 1965 he was a player of Mačva from Šabac, and in 1965 he joins Vojvodina FC, where he stayed until 1973.

He was a member and a first-team regular of Vojvodina FC for eight entire seasons, and during that time he played 207 competitive matches and scored 20 goals. He played at the position of the offensive midfielder.

After leaving Vojvodina, he went abroad, where he played for the German Manheim from 1973 until 1975. His professional football career ended in Crvenka FC in the season 1975/1976.

As a coach he was the Head of the Expert Staff of Vojvodina FC in the season 1985/86, and later on in several occasions, he was the assistant coach of the first team. For many years he worked with youth categories in the Youth Academy of Vojvodina FC.

Since the foundation of the Veterans Club of Vojvodina FC, he was an active member together with his veteran friends, attended meeting and gatherings.

Commemoration on the occasion of death of Vladimir Savić will be held on Wednesday at noon, at the Press room of Karađorđe Stadium. The funeral will start at 14:15h at the New Cemetery in Novi Sad.
