In the third round of qualifications for the Europa League, Vojvodina will meet the winner of the match between Bala Town (Wales) and Standard Liège (Belgium). The match will be played on September 24, and regardless of who will be the rival of the Old Lady, the red and whites will certainly play on the away field.

Of course, it is clear to all football fans that the Belgian Standard is a clear favorite against the team from Wales and that a real sports miracle should happen, so that Bala Town manages to eliminate the ten-time champion of Belgium. Vojvodina’s central back, 27-year-old Vladimir Kovačević, agrees with that. He returned to Voša this summer from the Belgian Jupiler Pro League, where he played for KV Kortrijk.

– When I heard that our possible opponents are Tottenham, Standard and Rostov, I knew that an extremely difficult job awaited us, because these are big and serious clubs. Among those teams, I was hoping we will get Standard, against whom I played three times while I was a member of KV Kortrijk. I think that the good thing for us is that the match will be played without the audience, because the fans are an extremely important factor for them, and Liège is generally one of the most difficult away fields in Belgium – says Kovačević.

He is very well acquainted with the qualities of the team that is currently in second place in the Belgian league.

– They have a good, rejuvenated team, in which I even have a few friends. Gojko Cimirot and Damjan Pavlović are there, and until recently, our goalkeeper Vanja Milinković-Savić was also there. Last summer, they brought my friend and former teammate Felipe Avenatti from KV Kortrijk for five million euros, and now he is their main player in the attack. However, regardless of everything, I think we are not without a chance, especially since we are playing well this season and recording good results. There is no doubt that it will be difficult, but we have something to hope for – said Kovačević.

The matches of the second round of qualifications for the Europa League are on the program on September 17, after which it will definitely be known whether Voša will be facing Welsh Bala Town or the Belgian Standard in the third round.
