It is never easy for anyone who loves Vojvodina when the Old Lady suffers a defeat against Partizan or Red Star, and especially not when that defeat is as convincing as it was on Saturday in Belgrade. Without any dilemma, the score of 4-0 shows that the red and whites were not at the level their fans wanted them to be and on which, after all, they used them to during the bigger part of the season so far.
Voša’s supporters hoped that 27-year-old Bojan Matić, who scored seven goals this season so far, might bring joy to them against Partizan too, but he, just like his teammates, didn’t had a good performance in Belgrade.
– I think that we did not enter the match against Partizan properly, and that is the main reason for the defeat. Quite simply, we played a bad match and were not at the level like in the first seven or eight rounds, when we really played well and created many chances for a goal, and therefore we had enviable efficiency. However, we have to forget this match as soon as possible and turn to what follows, because the season continues, and already on Saturday we have a match against Mačva in Šabac – says Matić.
He shares the opinion of the sports public that Voša has been playing in poor form over the last few games comparing to the start of the season.
– We no longer play high pressure on the opponent’s half as we did before, so we do not come that often in scoring opportunities, and therefore we are no longer effective as we were. It looks like we have lost the aggression we had and by which we were recognizable. I think it was evident already in the match against Čukarički, although we did not lose, and continued against Javor, when, despite that we scored two goals, we also received two goals and showed certain weaknesses in our play. We won against Inđija with an extra player on the pitch, but again we did not play too well, just like we didn’t played good against Partizan too. That is why I think that we have to play that high pressure again as we know it, because that way we will have better results – says Matić.
In the next round, Vojvodina will play in Šabac against Mačva, currently the last team in the table.
– Mačva is really playing poor this season, but nonetheless, I don’t think it’s as bad as the table shows. They were out of luck in some matches, and at home they earned more points than they won. After all, they played 0-0 against Čukarički last weekend, and before that they suffered a minimal defeat from Mladost by 0-1 … These are all tight results, in which things could very easily turn in their favor, so I think we must expect a very difficult game there. Mačva has a team that has been together for a relatively long time and has some very experienced players in its squad, which is led by a good coach Aničić. However, I think it all depends on us players. If we enter the match in the right way and put pressure on the opponent’s half as we did before, I am sure that we will have no problem to achieve the desired result – said Matić.
The match between Mačva and Vojvodina will be played on Saturday in Šabac, starting at 2pm.
